How to Have the Cleanest Windows

Owning a home comes with a certain amount of work. You take care of your lawn, you keep your floors vacuumed and your toilets cleaned. But for some, keeping the windows clean feels like a tedious chore. To avoid having to redo your hard work, you want to make sure you get it done right the first time. Our experts at Clinton Glass has put together a list of tips to help.

Choose the Right Day

The weather can actually make a big difference on the success of your window cleaning. If you try to clean your windows on a hot, sunny day, the cleaner will dry onto the hot windows before you have the chance to wipe it off, leaving hard-to-remove streaks. Instead, choose a dry, cloudy day to tackle your windows and if the weather won’t cooperate, start on the shady side of your house.

Remove Dirt and Dust

Instead of jumping right in with the spray cleaner, use a brush or vacuum to sweep dirt from the window frame. This will prevent the dirt from turning into a muddy mess when you spray on the cleaner.

Spray Cleaner Generously

Don’t be shy when it comes to spraying on your cleaner. If your windows are extra dirty, they’ll need plenty of cleaner to dissolve the dirt so it can be wiped away.

Know a Lost Cause When You See One

If you are following all of our tips and your windows are still not crystal clear, it may be time for replacement windows. Unfortunately, years of use can produce unsightly water damage and permanent stains that won’t be fazed by the average cleaner.

At Clinton Glass, we’re experts in replacing residential and commercial windows. Our team is both knowledgeable and skilled in making sure it’s done right the first time.
