Glass Shower Doors

4 Budget-Friendly Bathroom Design Ideas

A bathroom remodel can cost quite a bit of money. A new vanity, some flooring, and that custom shower can add up quickly. When you’re on a home-improvement budget, you have to be judicious about which changes to make. You also want to consider cheap tricks to modernize your bathroom without having to completely gut it. At Clinton Glass of Connecticut, we have helped out with enough bathroom remodels to offer a few tricks of the trade we’ve observed.

1. Paint your cabinets.

Instead of installing new cabinets or a bathroom vanity, consider whether you can paint them. We recommend that you consider painting your cabinets white—a color that transcends time. However, if you want a more modern spin, you may also consider a warm gray, black, or dark brown.

2. Consider frameless shower glass.

Instead of completely taking out a bathtub or shower, you may want to consider replacing an old slider door or that shower curtain with frameless glass. This one update can make your bathroom look bigger and much more modern. You may not have to replace your entire shower, but it will have that custom look.

3. Choose a modern, neutral paint color.

A coat of paint is an inexpensive way to transform your bathroom. By choosing a neutral like gray, white, or beige, you can avoid having to repaint in a few years because neutrals tend to stand the test of time.

4. Repair before you replace.

Most of the time, you can save money by repairing bathroom fixtures instead of completely replacing them. For example, if your bathtub has scratches or dents, consider fiberglass repair. If your bathroom mirror has a crack, then opt for glass repair instead of having to take down the old mirror, dispose of it, and buy and install a completely new one. Getting a quote on repair services doesn’t hurt if it can save you some money in the long run.
